Salvia discolor comes from Peru and is a medium shrub that prefers warm dry conditions, and will tolerate light frosts and dry periods once established. It has the palest of grey green foliage with the backs covered in fine white hairs.
Salvia discolor will tolerate most soil types and a medium prune after flowering. It is rare in the wild and uncommon in cultivation which is a shame as the combination of silvery leaves and calyx with the deepest black blue flowers makes a great addition to a cottage garden.
